I have always had a love hate relationship with my lips. As full as they are, I have always been sensitive to lipsticks. I have creviced lips. I love them but they peel constantly, shedding skin like I am part lizard (ok I am exaggerating) but they really do peel. I have used all kinds of moisturizers, eye creams, balms and they all just end up making my lips worse. If you've read my Lip Tip 1 blog you already know that I have changed my lip routine to a new exfoliator which works a treat. This is my 2nd tip and step in my new lip care routine and it's a doozy. I threw caution to the wind and lashed out on a lip sleeping mask! I'm so glad I did
This is a review for the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.
First I love the packaging, You have the mask cream in lovely pink packaging and a cute little silicone applicator paddle that comes in its own little pouch. Me being a stickler for germ transfer this is a bonus because I don't like fingers in any of my face care products (and neither should you).
I was concerned at first about using a lip mask because I remember the Vaseline follies. People saying Oh you must use Vaseline and me listening to them - resulting in the worst lip peeling and soreness I have EVER had. The second worst peeling is from products containing waxes. I may as well just rip my face off after using those products on my lips. But hey it couldn't be worse, so I went ahead with it.
The cream itself is smooth and light, like a whipped butter. It smells like a cherry scented candle.
Application is easy, and it's the last thing I do before I go to sleep at night. First, I make sure my lips are clean and exfoliated.
Using the silicone paddle supplied, I spread it all over my lips like butter on toast. The smell is divine. What's interesting is I used to bite my lips in my sleep. With the mask on, I don't do that. When I wake up in the morning, a lot of the product has soaked in, but I can still feel it protecting my lips, even if it feels like only a little bit is left.
I will say, you won't want to kiss your partner with this mask on unless you tell them beforehand. But the warning is if you do, they may want to use it too becuase it will work on them too!
When I wake up, my lips feel sooooo soft and moisturized it's amazing. I've been using this product for a month now, and I have found that my lipstick lasts longer, my lips do not peel anymore. This must mean that the mask does not block out moisture, like petrolatum and wax does, causing more dryness, but allows or encourages moisture to penetrate into the lips overnight. Which is exactly what is needed.
About those ingredients. The ingredient list for this product is looooong and in tiny print. I am not going to say by any means that it is "natural" with only natural ingredients. It isn't.
My performance rating on the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask for is 5 stars. And I recommend it for anyone who wants to improve their lips.
My natural rating is a 1 star because, well eventhough it has several natural ingredients in including shea butter, cranberry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and coffee seed extract I would not call it a natural product.
