You know we have naturally what everyone wants, right? First in line, plump, luscious lips. But with these lips come the need to care for them. Exfoliate, moisturize, the right color and products are a must. Because if your lips are like mine, if you get them wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong.
I was in Sephora with my sisters on Easter Sunday (yeah, I know) getting our makeup done because that’s what sisters do. If you have ever been into Sephora you know they have HUNDREDS of lip products and it’s almost impossible to get through their displays in under an hour. So I decided to go for something completely different from what I am used to (satin traditional lipsticks).
Went straight for the sparkle and headed for the Buxom range because you are never too old to sparkle no matter what anyone says. What I found there were "lip plumpers" --- yeah as if I need that. The sales assistant who had done my makeover wasn't convinced either but she showed me the most sparkly lip gloss I had ever seen and I was like … nooo I don’t think sooo… lol. But I was there and had a fresh face of makeup to play with so what the heck.
Well let me tell you, this lip gloss tingles like mint within seconds you can feel it go to work. Within about 15 minutes my lips felt transformed. They were fuller right to the corners and I felt like it gave me a little pucker which looked so fresh and new. The edges of my lips, which are normally prominent, weren’t prominent anymore and the feel of my lips were rounded and soft.
So yeah, it was like a lip-lift!
After using the gloss (which is more like a gel), it stays a bit sticky and if you kiss someone on the lips before the tingle wears off, they will tingle too (which is hilarious if you don’t tell them). This takes some getting used to. But interestingly, I usually roll and lick my lips too often so my lipstick wears off within a short period of time. This lip gel discouraged me from doing that.
The one thing I will mention is that if you use this type of gloss you MUST exfoliate your lips often and make sure they are well moisturized daily. If your lips are prone to peeling and you don't do this, you will find that your lips may peel. I think this is because of the plumping action. I use a lip sleeping mask, a moisturizing stick and I exfoliate often so I don't have problems with peeling anymore.
I wear this in Dominique which is clear sparkly (because I am blessed with a natural pigment) or over an existing lipstick. I also use the color Sugar which is a pale rose.
In the photo I am wearing Buxom in Dominique over Luxe Lip Color in Neutral Rose. The Buxom range retails for about $20 so it's worth a try.
