Since I have been a little girl maybe five, I have had relaxers. I have never known my natural hair. At the age of 35 I have decided to go natural. I was too afraid to cut it all off and start over so I just started with not putting another relaxer on and cutting my ends. My hair is genarally thick with the relaxer and now that I don't have the relaxer in on my new growth it is getting thick.
Today I will go get my hair braided in a simple updo. Just simple braids no extra hair added. I have been reading about how to grow your hair and what I keep coming across is drink plenty of water, eat a healthy diet, and don't do too much to your hair, like using too much heat and products. Last night I washed and condition my hair, then greased my scalp. Today I will get it braided and hope this style will last for a couple of weeks. My plan is to wash it and condition it every two weeks, keep it braided for a while.
I have a 12 year old daughter who likes getting her hair relaxed. She just started this year relaxing it but I am hoping to talk her into going natural because I don't want her to rely on having her hair relaxed.
